Embrace your inner master chef at the SA Festival’s Ultimate Potjie Master Competition. We’re calling out to potjie enthusiasts – assemble your team of four and craft a dish that will tantalise the judges’ taste buds!

Your entry fee is £20 and includes:

  • Four entry tickets into the Festival valued at over £40, giving you a full day to enjoy all the festivities, fun and entertainment at the SA Festival.
  • The chance to win a £50 Robinson’s hamper for each team member.

Competition Rules and Guidelines:

  1. Teams must be comprised of four members.
  2. Your potjie must serve four plus one portion for judging – five portions in total.
  3. Cooking begins from 09h00 and entries must be presented to judges at 15h00.
  4. Teams must submit their potjie recipe for publicity purposes.
  5. Teams are responsible for their own setup and cleanup.
  6. Teams must supply a suitable ground cover to prevent damage to Manx Fun Farm’s field.
  7. The cost to enter is £20.
  8. Judges’ decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into.

Judging Criteria:

Your potjie will be judged on:

  • Taste (40 points): The most crucial of all. Does your potjie have a well-balanced and delicious flavour? Do the ingredients blend well together to create a pleasing taste?
  • Appearance (20 points): Is your potjie visually appealing? Presentation matters, so make sure your potjie looks as good as it tastes.
  • Originality (20 points): We’re looking for creativity! Have you used a unique ingredient or cooking method to make your potjie stand out?
  • Team Spirit (20 points): Does your team exhibit camaraderie and cooperation? Are you all having fun? Remember, the spirit of ubuntu is at the heart of this competition!

Total points for each category will be added up to give a final score out of 100 points.
